based on the story of "the hungry vampire" I can personally conclude that the story about vampires has many versions but there are still many who think that vampires are dangerous creatures that's why in this story parents forbid their children from going out when it was dark because of vampires active at night.

but in this story tells about vegetarian vampires they eat fruits and vegetables not blood from humans as the story goes around, and they are also good if humans are also good to him.

in the story the vegetarian vampire meets boys during the day, why boys? because maybe if a girl will immediately scream or even faint.

the vegetarian vampire was starving and in need of water, visible from his blue face, then the boy helped the Vampire to regain his strength, after recovering the vampire thanked the boy and offered him to accompany the boy goes around the island at night.

“Yes!” said the boy excitedly, because he was very curious about the dark night.
After that the vampire took the boy to explore the island every night, and the boy and the vampire were best friends.

in this short story about vegetarian vampires the author wants to convey the message that we must help each other despite possible limiting differences, such as the child helping the vampires.
